Man Dies Of Injuries From Aug. 12 Beating

A Jackson man died Monday from injuries he suffered during an Aug. 12 beating, police said. Charles Cotting, 67, died at University Medical Center, police said. The beating happened at Cotting’s home in the 600 block of Avalon Road, Lt. Jeffery Scott said. Scott said robbery was most likely the motive in Cotting’s beating death. Police are searching for Cotting’s silver 2007 Chevy HHR with license plate number HQQ-903 that was reported stolen. Cotting’s death is the 47th homicide this year in Jackson, Scott said.
